FLORIDA MARLINS (NOLASCO) AT SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (ZITO) 7:15 PM PACIFIC
San Francisco made us work for it on Sunday, but they managed to take the victory. Now they’re back at home facing a Florida team that they’ve already swept on the road earlier this year. Marlins playing decent baseball of late winning 7 of 10 and they hit lefthanded pitching well (17-11 +5.1 units). Still, we’re not inclined to go against the Giants who have been the hottest team in baseball over the past month. San Fran currently on a 16-6 +11.3 run and they’ve pulled to within 3 games of NL West leading San Diego. They’ll need to keep up that furious pace, since the Padres have also been playing well winning 8 of 10. Barry Zito has looked sharp in his recent starts (1.80 ERA in his L3 starts) and he’s never lost to the Marlins (5-0) with a 2.16 ERA in those games. We’ll take the red hot home team and a starting pitcher in good form at short price.

SEATTLE MARINERS (HERNANDEZ) AT CHICAGO WHITE SOX (DANKS) 5:10 PM PACIFIC
White Sox have been inconsistent all year, but thanks to a torrid run over the past six weeks are back in first place in the AL Central. They’ve been solid at home (27-19 +2.4 units) and face a Seattle team that has struggled on the road. Mariners are 15-32 -14.6 units away from Qwest Field, and are 1-9 -8 units as a road underdog in this price range (+100 to +125). Overall, they’re 38-57 -20.4 units and have not done well against left handed pitching this year with a 10-21 -11.4 mark against southpaws. Felix Hernandez is by all means a solid pitcher (2.75 ERA) but the M’s are 10-11 -5 units in his starts this year including 2-4 on the road. John Danks has looked very sharp in his last three starts going 3-0 with a 2.38 ERA. White Sox have already taken 5 of 6 from Seattle this year and have dominated head to head play in recent years—White Sox on a 14-7 run overall and a 8-1 +7 unit run at home.
