  • College Basketball Betting Picks for November 16, 2010

We've got a pair of college basketball betting picks on Tuesday night action--Oddsbay's handicapping team has you covered in every sport on the board!
    BUTLER AT LOUISVILLE--NOVEMBER 16, 2010 5:00 PM PACIFIC
Butler isn't going to sneak up on anyone this year, but there may be some members of the 'public' that think their NCAA run was a fluke. It wasn't--the Bulldogs are an exceptionally well coached, fundamentally sound and hard working team--and particularly on the defensive end. We've had our eye on this matchup since schedules were announced and although we're not getting as much line value with Butler as we had hoped we're still in a position where all they need to do is win this game outright and we think they will. Louisville's big problem last year was a lack of defensive intensity and especially on the interior defense. They got marginally better in this regard as the season progressed, but it's not like the other teams were standing still either. Now we've got Louisville back in a likely early season lazy mode against a team that will make them pay for this lack of defensive intensity. Butler won't be getting as favorable of prices this year, but they're 10-4 ATS since 2008 as underdogs, 16-11 ATS on the road and 17-11 in non conference action. Louisville, meanwhile, is 25-30 ATS as a favorite, 15-17 ATS at home and 9-16 ATS in non conference games. The Cardinals' players will think that their superior talent will let them 'phone in' a win. Not against such a well coached and hard working team--and the talent disparity isn't that large anyway.

    COLORADO AT GEORGIA--NOVEMBER 16, 2010 4:00 PM PACIFIC
A common mistake of 'square' bettors is their tendency to judge teams by what they did in the past rather than what they're capable of doing in the present. Georgia could be a perfect example of this--the Bulldogs have been a trainwreck of a program in recent years and this price suggests that they're still trying to live down that reputation. The reality is that the Bulldogs are headed in the right direction and by the end of the year could be a darling of the mainstream sports media. They've got a good coach on board in Mark Fox and a lot of talent on hand. They will be without SEC preseason player of the year Trey Thompkins for this game--he's recovering from a sprained ankle. Colorado does have some talent--particularly Kwamain Mitchell and Willie Reed who have NBA level skills. We just think Georgia has more depth, better athleticism and better coaching. Colorado has a first year coach in Tad Boyle, who replaced Jeff Bzdelik when he took the job at Wake Forest. Dawgs are undervalued because of Thompkins' absence, but we look for them to win and cover this game. Colorado only 6-13 ATS since 2008 in non-conference action and they could not have the same level of intensity with the Bulldogs' star player on the bench.
